The L.A. Bike Messenger Co-op, LLC
The late 1990's saw a change in the messenger industry with the advent of the independent contractor (I.C.) movement. Larger messenger companies decided it would be more cost effective to change their drivers, motorcyclists and bike messengers to I.C. status which left their employees without workers compensation and unemployment benefits as well as other discouraging factors. The simple fact was we were out there without any coverage and when one of our associates was hit and seriously injured by another I.C. we realized a change was needed. Seven bike messengers and an attorney began the LABMC to create a small client base, farm out the jobs to willing I.C.'s, pay them 75% commission and then use the supplemental income they made to pay for a group health insurance program or whatever they feel necessary. To this day, we've kept our promise and haven't faltered from our original idea. Clients who use the LABMC are helping change an industry rife with greed and inhumanity. Help us keep our dream alive because it's not just a job...it's a job we love.

The U-Lock Mob
The U-Lock Mob is every bike messenger in Los Angeles coming together to celebrate our vocation. Sounds a bit heady, but it is the pride we feel of doing our job in a hostile environment, and staying alive. We throw Alleycat races, host events, take trips to other messenger cities and are the voice of our small community in the sun. From the youngest rookie to the oldest veteran...we are all "The Mob"!

This Site is dedicated to the memory of Val, Jason, Adan & Ilya R.I.P. ride in peace...rise in power
